Systematised searching – the Internet as mediating instrument

If your computer is your physical artefact, the act of surfing the Net is your intellectual instrument. On the Internet, you can create a visual journey where, on the one hand, you yourself decide where to go from here, and on the other hand, you create the possibility of being directed to new, unexpected searches. In my study, I test an untried and unjustified concept – systematised searching – to illustrate the mediating surfing we come into daily contact with in various ways. I have chosen to create a concept based on what I already know, in the expectation of finding knowledge about what I didn’t know existed.

Metodierad sökning – Internet som medierande redskap.

Om din dator är din fysiska artefakt så är handlingen att surfa på nätet ditt intellektuella redskap. På internet kan du skapa en visuell resa där du å ena sidan själv bestämmer hur du tar dig vidare, å andra sidan skapar möjligheten att ledas in på nya oväntade sökningar. I min undersökning testar jag ett oprövat och omotiverat begrepp, metodierad sökning, för att åskådliggöra det medierande surfande som vi på olika sätt dagligen kommer i kontakt med. Jag har valt att skapa ett begrepp som utgår från sådant jag redan vet, i förväntan om att finna kunskap om det jag inte visste fanns.
